GOAL
- Understand the Hispanic Caregiver Journey for Cancer.
- Gather insights to inform the design of the digital information sites.
- Explore needs, preferences, and expectations, among the Hispanic users.
ACTIVITIES
- Mobile diary study with 20 caregivers of stage 4 cancer patients.
- With Mid-Point Debriefings
- And final debriefings.
METHODOLOGY
Using both a quantitative and qualitative approach to understand the caregiver journey, we followed 20 caregivers through 1 month of their journey.
IMPACT
- For Hispanic Caregivers (and Patients) the word “Cancer” has stigma.
- For Hispanics, cancer myths and misconceptions are deeply rooted into their way of thinking and hard to debunk. For example, some are convinced that having sugar while going through Chemo will decelerate their family member’s progress. While there is no scientific evidence, they just think that they are right.
- Cultural Home Remedies (e.g. homeopathic alternatives, diet alternatives, etc) are a central theme as a means to get better.
- Our client saw a lift in site experience, after they address the findings by creating specialized content that addressed myths and misceptions, home remedies, and diet.
